Its watching you feedback

This is where our class gave us feedback on our film, this was very useful because it has given us some ideas on what we can improve on and what they thought was very good. It has given us some thought on what we could do next time and how to change things around.

Evaluation 8 - What targets will you set for yourself for G324 next year?

I will set myself a range of targets for next year, such as being more organised when planning and taking part in filming. I will give myself more time to complete all this as I didnt realise that things would go wrong therefore in the end didnt have enough time to correct it, for example part of the film that we shot was a vertical instead of being horrizontal like the rest of the film, this messed up a big part but the deadline was too close to go and film it again so we just had to work with that we had. This also leads on to being able to use a wider range of shots and angles that fit in with the filming, and being able to experiment more with it all and make it more effective throughout.

I am also aiming to be more up to date with blog posts and try and do them as I go along, as this year I got caught up with other work and the blog posts have taken me much more longer time then they are supposed to, I can also add in the key terms that I have used this year and make it more interesting for other people to read.

Evaluation 7- How have you progressed from the preliminary task?

When taking part in our preliminary task we used a range of different camera angles and shot. This meant that when coming to film the actual opening 2 minutes we had a rough idea on what to use and how to make all the shots work together. I have progressed by learning all the new shot types that we didn't know and wasn't able to use when filming the preliminary task because of we wasn't that advanced in filming. If we had to re film the preliminary task I would be able to use a much better range of shots and it would be much better because we have learnt a lot more.

From the different camera angles that we used when doing this task, at the time I didn't realise that the higher or lower that you hold the angle would have a major impact on the power of the scene, this meant that when doing this task we didn't have much knowledge but now I have taken part in actually filming I have made a lot of progress and realised that it does matter majorly.

Evaluation 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When making our film, we used may different types of equipment and technology's to make our film the best that we can. For example, we used a tripod at some places because we needed to make it as sturdy as possible because we didn't want it too look bad quality if the person filming was shaking, and outside the window we used a selfie stick as we had no other way to get the shot from that angle and we thought that angle was very good and would look well when filming.

To film the opening two minutes, we used an IPhone to film. This has a 1080p HD video, this meant that it would be a better idea to use this because the quality would be much better than using a camera. We also thought this would be a good idea on the behalf that we know how to use iPhones more than we do camera's, therefore we would get better filming techniques when using the iPhone. We also used another iPhone to take the photos when filming to give evidence and use on your blog posts to show behind the scene filming.

YouTube was a big part of when filming, this is because we used that to upload the storyboard, feed back and the actual film. This is effective and a very quick way to be able to upload onto our blog posts without messing up and it is easy to watch when you want to have a quick glance. YouTube was very easy for us to learn how to upload and put onto our blogs to because it is used in everyday life.

When we came to editing the task, we used a software that none of us had ever used before which was called Adobe Premiere Elements 10. This took us a while to get used to and find out the different features but after Mr Thornton explained us all the main things we needed to know, in the end we played around with it for a while and then it came familiar every time we went on to do some more editing, it wasn't very hard to get used to. At some points we were having problems because it would keep freezing, or wouldn't upload the right one when we needed to and little things that took time from us that we didn't have to waste. But overall, It wasn't a bad software to work with and made our film look very effective and was good when we needed to use different transitions to make it look more like a horror film and using different texts to make it look creepy.

Evaluation 5 - How did you attract your audience?

We attracted our audience to our film by using things that a normal horror film would have, therefore people that enjoy horror films will automatically want to watch this film because they have similarities. People moving into a new house or previously moved may have mixed emotions when watching this film, this is because they might get scared/worried now because it is based on a horror in a new house. At the same time on the other hand, this means that if they are worried about moving into a new house beforehand and watch this film, it might give them some reassurance that it isn't real and they will be okay with moving out because it just a horror film

The main characters in our film are teenagers, and about a young couple moving into a new house. We used this to attract our audience because people the same age and in the same situation might find it thrilling to watch and will be effective because they could relate and imagine that was happening to them.

The sounds that we used would be a big part in attracting the audience, this is because we used ideas from other horror films and made them similar in a way, therefore this should attract loads of different people because once they hear the sounds that we added in it will interest them in the film because it is their kind of film. Using the big bold text at the beginning, this would attract the audience because it would catch there attention if just flicking through films to watch, this suggests that they might give the film a chance because it looks attractive with the font.

Evaluation 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

Image result for 15 age
Our film is based for people that are aged at 15 and over. This because of the content that is shown wouldn't be appropriate for younger than 15 because they may find the 'creepy' figure scary. Also 15 and above are more interested in the suspense that occurs.

Our film will include violence, therefore this is another reason that our film is aimed at 15 and over as it is the law that if the film includes
any of the following :

- Drugs
- Sex
- Violence
- Threat
- Language
- Imitable behaviour

The language that will be used in our film will not be appropriate for the ages under 15 years old as it is very strong and violent and children younger than 15 may not know what it means or there parents would not think it is acceptable for their children to be hearing those words and seeing those actions.

Also, we have thought about which gender would prefer the film and we have decided that it would be males. This is because males are more like to enjoy violence and gory type of scenes and they seek the thrill of violence  However, this isn't saying that girls wouldn't like horror films too because there are many that still do just it is known for boys to like it a more as that is what stereotypically shown in society.

In our film the story line includes young characters, this means that this might catch the attention of young teenagers when watching all together because they are in similar paths and the could relate to them. Mostly a group of teenagers or young adults would be interested in the films because they have other people to joke around with and aren't on their own and overall with have other people to enjoy it with.

Evaluation 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product?

This is our production company, a production company is where it handles the budgeting, scheduling, scripting the supply with talent and resources, the organization of staff, production itself, distribution and the marketing.

This is our final production name and picture. Our group had to change our picture half way through editing because it didn't fit in with our film and it was too bright but overall we were able to change it and improve it and then we came out with this one. We kept the name . 'A GOLDEN CASTLE FILM'  as the one before which was right at the beginning of the whole video planning wasn't appropriate enough for a horror and creepy film, as it was too positive and upbeat.

If our group was going to distribute the film ourselves, we would decide to sell it to Netflix. This is for the reason as our budget wasn't big enough to go for anybody else as because we haven't brought a film out before therefore nobody will know who we are and wont voluntarily go and see the film that we have produced but if somebody pays monthly for Netflix they may come across it and watch it because it is in front of them already. The money that we would receive after the film was made would be from Netflix, if the amount they offer is over the budget that we used to make our film will determine if we were going to choose them or not otherwise we would go find somewhere else because we would want to be offered enough that makes us have a little bit of profit.

Throughout the film we have multiple titles that appear, these include the names that produced and featured in the film. Throughout the film everybody helped out with little bits now and then but overall everybody had a big part too, and these are listen below. Chloe Tullett and I were in charge of writing the script and doing the information for the scenes, Hannah Bowyer edited the film and Charlotte Benjamin and Kieran Amos both starred in the film.

Evaluation 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Charlotte is a young woman that is presented in our film as just a normal girl. She is dressed in casual clothes and very innocent. This character is very similar to the woman in scream 'Casey Becker'. Both characters are aware that there are scary figures around and they both and go and try to find out who it is and what it going on. The character from scream is also just a very causal and innocent woman.

There are many similarities in the two characters, this is such as both young woman and they are very naïve, they are both also laid back which we see because they're just lounging around at home in comfortable clothes. However at the same time there are some differences, this is such as Charlotte isn't aware that the figure is real as such, but Casey speaks to the person on the phone so knows that the person is real. Also Charlotte isn't alone as she is moving in with her boyfriend so if needed she has somebody there, but Casey is on her own, home alone so anything could happen and nobody knows.
