Evaluation 1 - what does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is a scene that is very stereotypical and something that people would expect to happen in a horror film. This scene makes the audience very weary and confused and makes them want to ask loads of questions because Kieran is seen alive then dead and then alive again, overall this is sets a very mysterious mood. This overall makes it known that the film is a horror.

This scene, Charlotte spots Kieran staring up at her when she is looking out of the window, this makes the audience very frightened on Charlottes behalf as they don't know what's going to happen to her or who he is. This shows the setting to the audience, the stereotypical dark and creepy background that would be used in most horror films.

This scene is from when the audience first met Charlotte and she was introduced. She is introduced as a typical young woman that is just innocently moving into her new house. The audience learns who she is with the use of diegetic sound with her shouting out the door we also find out she is moving in with Scott, so she is not living on her own. Also because Charlotte is the first thing the audience notices, this might make them realise that Charlotte is going to be a big part of the film and she is going to be one of the main characters.

This scene shows Charlotte again walking up the stairs, you can clearly see the outfit she has on here is very casual and normal. For this scene we tried to make the outfit as normal that she would wear usually because in real life that is what a young woman would wear. This is effective to the audience  because she is moving into a new house and she wouldn't have to be dressed up as she will want to be comfortable and the audience would pick up and notice that it was weird if she was dressed more fancy.

This scene is an over the shoulder shot. This is from Kieran's point of view and the way that he is hiding behind the tree and he can see Charlotte but Charlotte cannot see him. This is very typical to happen in a horror film as it is very creepy and suspicious and it makes the audience wonder what is going to happen next and if he is going to get caught.

This scene from the film shows the title font clearly. We thought it would be effective to use big bold capital letters so the audience can clearly see who is staring in the film and are able to see who they are before it disappears. This includes being able to see who it is written, produced, edited and directed by.

This scene introduces Kieran as the creepy character. This shot is effective because it shows the outfit which is dressed all in black which is the stereotypically horror scene. However this doesn't show the figures face which makes the audience wonder who it is and what they are doing there and what their aim is.

In this scene the antagonist is following Charlotte without her being aware, this is the stereotypical horror genre and this is what the audience would expect to happen. This would still make the audience wonder on who is it? and why are they following her in particular? This makes the audience weary and confused but also they want to carry on watching to see what happens in the end.

This shot from the film is very effective because it is bold and sudden. This makes it very creepy for the audience and will their attention because it is so plain but at the same time the font makes it very mysterious because there is nothing else going on in the shot they will want to keep watching to find out.
