Target audience for romantic comedies
The target audience for romantic comedies is mainly aimed at woman, apart from now and then when the man will get dragged to the cinema to go with there partner as this sometimes would happen. It is mainly aimed at woman because of the light hearted nature of the film that is produced. Less serious fans seem to go for the romantic comedies as it is the more relaxed type of film. The comedy side of a romance film would be a woman type of humour therefore men wouldn't be attracted to it as more of a 'chick' flick. Woman are more likely to relate to the emotions that are displayed with the different characters and the different scenarios that occur stereotypically.
Most are aimed at the targeted audience of ages 15+, this is because all ages would enjoy romantic comedies if this was what they enjoy, but some films are a 15 which means the younger generation would not be able to watch it therefore the audience decreases for that type of film. Woman that watch romantic comedies and have not fallen in love yet or started a family tend to look up to the characters in these films because that's what they want to be like and if the character is settling down as a family and they are younger than the person watching it might make them feel rushed like they need to start finding a love life sooner or later as it may be too late, therefore this will attract more of the younger/older viewers, such as woman in there 20's/30's might go and watch it if they want something to do, but also young teenagers might want to go just for a day out and something to do.
